Have you cared for a loved one with life-limiting illness? We need your input on a Cochrane review update!

Skills / interests: Consumer (public, patient, carer) input

People who develop life-limiting diseases or illnesses often ask questions such as "Why me? Why now?". These questions may either arise from spiritual and/or religious thoughts and questions people already have or may give rise to new ones. Some research studies have found that people coming to the end of their lives may find spiritual and/or religious support helpful, and that interventions aiming to provide and seek to increase that kind of support may therefore benefit them to achieve spiritual well-being.

We are looking for consumer input on a Cochrane review update that aimed to find out which spiritual and/or religious interventions have been studied for improving the well-being of people with life-limiting illnesses, and to investigate whether any of those interventions produced better results than the usual care people receive. This is an updated version of a review originally published in 2012: https://www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD007544.pub2/full.

Cochrane considers a consumer, in this case, to be a carer of somebody with a life-limiting illness. For consumer peer review, we will ask you to complete a short form with your feedback to ensure the review is accessible and relevant so that it will be helpful to patients and their carers/families with healthcare decision-making.

You are welcome to provide feedback on any aspect of the review, or you can focus your attention on the sections you feel are most relevant to consumers and stakeholders, such as Abstract, Plain Language Summary, and Conclusions. Our aim is for this to be a manageable task, that does not overburden consumer reviewers.

Thank you in advance for considering!
