Neurology

Do you have trigeminal neuralgia or have suffered from it in the past? Your input would be appreciated on a protocol for a Cochrane Review looking at medication for trigeminal neuralgia.

Skills / interests: Consumer (public, patient, carer) input

I am looking for someone willing to provide feedback for the following Cochrane protocol, "Non-antiepileptic drugs for trigeminal neuralgia". If you or someone you know has been treated/is being treated for this condition, your feedback would be most helpful in gaining a consumer perspective.

Trigeminal neuralgia is sudden, severe facial pain, often lasting several seconds. It is nerve pain caused by irritation of the trigeminal nerve. It can be triggered by many things including speaking, eating and drinking cold drinks.

A protocol is a plan for a systematic review. Consumer input at the protocol stage is integral to ensure that the completed systematic review will be helpful to patients and carers with healthcare decision-making. You will be asked to complete a short form with your feedback for consumer peer review. Our aim is for this to be a manageable task, that does not overburden consumer reviewers.

Ideal applicant

I am looking for someone who has lived experience of trigeminal neuralgia.
