Blood Disorders

Have you or a loved one been treated for a hematological malignancy (cancer of the blood) such as leukaemia or multiple myeloma? Your input is needed on a considering different blood transfusion strategies for people living with hematological malignancies

Skills / interests: Consumer (public, patient, carer) input

Would you be interested in helping us with this article focused different blood transfusion strategies for people with anemia (low blood iron levels) due to treatments for haematological malignancies (blood cancers such leukaemia or multiple myeloma)?

I am looking for a consumer who would be willing to peer review this Cochrane systematic review “Restrictive versus liberal red blood cell transfusion strategies for people with haematological malignancies treated with intensive chemotherapy or radiotherapy, or both, with or without haematopoietic stem cell support”.

Cochrane considers a consumer to be a person with experience of the condition (in this case, any type of blood cancer), either as a patient or as a carer/family member of a patient. From a consumer perspective, we are interested if the language of the review, especially the language used in the Plain Language Summary, is accessible and if it feels relevant for those experiencing blood cancer, such that it will be helpful to patients and carers with healthcare decision making.

While you are welcome to provide feedback on any aspect of the review, you can focus your attention on the summary sections. Our aim is for this to be a manageable task, that does not overburden consumer reviewers.

Thank you in advance for considering!
