Speaker on the importance of diversity in clinical trials

We are seeking a patient or patient advocate to speak at the upcoming International Society of Publication Professionals (ISMPP) Annual Meeting in Washington DC, May 12-14, 2025. The theme of the meeting is Diversity and Innovation: In Concert. The specific session is A Chorus of Voices: The Power of Representation in the Medical Research Lifecycle. This session is ~45 minutes and will be lead by one researcher and one patient. Each will have about 15 minutes and then about 15 minutes for questions. We are specifically looking for a patient or patient advocate to speak to their experiences and how they have benefited from the inclusion of diversity in clinical trials and research. The speaker can be from any cancer, genetic, infectious, or rare disease. Support is available for development of content and slides as needed. The patient and researcher will work collaboratively on the presentation.

Ideal applicant

Our ideal advocate will be confident and comfortable speaking on a stage about their experiences and the benefits of diversity in clinical research. Registration for the meeting will be covered. The ideal speaker will be close to Washington DC, but limited funds are available for travel or accommodation. Accessibility needs will also be addressed.
