Tracheostomy care remains highly variable globally, with inconsistencies in practices such as tube selection (fenestrated vs. non-fenestrated), timing of tube changes, decannulation protocols, and management of complications like granulation tissue and infections . This review aims to synthesize existing evidence to clarify best practices and reduce preventable adverse events, which account for ~50% of airway-related critical care complications .
