Neonatal Care

Your input is needed on a review on sugar water for pain relief during vein puncture in newborn babies

Skills / interests: Patient and public input

Would you be interested in helping us with a review that is looking at the benefits and risks of using sugar water (sucrose) as a form of pain relief in hospitalised newborn babies undergoing vein puncture (venepuncture)? Venepuncture is a common procedure that involves puncturing a vein, usually with a needle, to draw blood for various medical procedures, including medical tests and treatment.

I am looking for a patient/public contributor who would be willing to peer review this Cochrane systematic review: 'Sucrose analgesia for venepuncture in neonates'.

We would like to know if the language of the review, especially the language used in the Plain Language Summary, is accessible and if it feels relevant for people, such that it will be helpful to parents and carers.

While you are welcome to provide feedback on any aspect of the review, you can focus your attention on the summary sections. Our aim is for this to be a manageable task, that does not overburden patient/public reviewers.

Thank you in advance for considering!
