Cochrane considers a consumer to be a person with experience of the condition (in this case, severe mental illness), either as a parent or as a family member/carer of a patient. From a consumer perspective, we are interested if the language of the review, especially the language used in the Plain Language Summary, is accessible and if it feels relevant for parents/family members of those experiencing severe mental illness, such that it will be helpful to them with healthcare decision making.
