Project Overview: "Fluid Creep" in Sepsis Management
This scoping review aims to map the evidence regarding "Fluid Creep"—the phenomenon of excessive, hidden fluid administration (via drug diluents, line flushes, and maintenance) beyond resuscitation needs—specifically in patients with sepsis.
As a Registered Nurse at Hospital del Mar (Barcelona), I have identified this as a critical safety gap. This is an independent research project aimed at improving clinical protocols and patient safety in high-acuity settings.
What help is needed exactly?
I am seeking a co-author to act as a Methodological Lead. Specifically, I need help with:
-
Search Strategy: Refining the search strings for PubMed, Embase, and CINAHL (including MeSH/Emtree terms).
-
Study Selection: Leading the screening process (Title/Abstract and Full-text) using tools like Rayyan or Covidence.
-
Data Extraction & Synthesis: Designing the extraction form and performing the qualitative synthesis of the findings according to PRISMA-ScR guidelines.
-
Manuscript Development: Collaborating on the "Methods" and "Results" sections of the paper.
Transparency & Publication Plan
-
Institutional Affiliation: Independent project by a clinical researcher at Hospital del Mar (Barcelona).
-
Target Journals: We aim for peer-reviewed journals such as Enfermería Intensiva (SEEIUC), Intensive and Critical Care Nursing, or Australian Critical Care.
-
Financial Compensation: This is a voluntary academic collaboration. There is no funding or budget for Article Processing Charges (APC); we will prioritize "Diamond Open Access" journals or leverage institutional transformative agreements for free publication.
