Information specialist needed for Embase search: ADC in Warthin tumor versus pleomorphic adenoma

Skills / interests: Searching for evidence

Methodological skills / interests: Screening and diagnostic test reviews, Information retrieval

We are conducting an independent systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating conventional diffusion-weighted MRI-derived apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values for differentiating Warthin tumor from pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland.

Searches in PubMed/MEDLINE and Scopus have already been completed. We seek an experienced medical librarian or information specialist with legitimate institutional access to Embase, through Embase.com or Ovid.

Requested contribution:

• Review and refine our existing search concepts.

• Translate the strategy into valid Embase syntax using appropriate Emtree terms and free-text synonyms.

• Run the search from database inception to the current date, with no restrictions by language, publication year or publication type, retaining conference abstracts.

• Provide the complete reproducible line-by-line strategy, database platform and coverage, search date and total record count.

• Export all records in RIS and, if possible, CSV, including abstracts, DOI, keywords and Emtree terms.

• If possible, perform or facilitate PRESS peer review of the final search strategy.

No screening or deduplication is required. The raw Embase export must be retained for central deduplication with other databases. The protocol, eligibility criteria and draft strategies will be supplied.

Estimated effort: approximately 3–5 hours, depending on refinement and documentation. This is an academic, non-commercial project.

Draft Embase.com strategy for expert review (not yet validated):

('parotid gland tumor'/exp OR 'salivary gland tumor'/exp OR parotid*:ti,ab,kw OR 'salivary gland*':ti,ab,kw)

AND

('warthin tumor'/exp OR 'pleomorphic adenoma'/exp OR warthin*:ti,ab,kw OR cystadenolymphoma*:ti,ab,kw OR 'papillary cystadenoma lymphomatosum':ti,ab,kw OR 'pleomorphic adenoma*':ti,ab,kw OR 'mixed tumor*':ti,ab,kw)

AND

('diffusion weighted imaging'/exp OR 'apparent diffusion coefficient'/exp OR 'diffusion weighted':ti,ab,kw OR 'diffusion-weighted':ti,ab,kw OR dwi:ti,ab,kw OR 'apparent diffusion coefficient*':ti,ab,kw OR adc:ti,ab,kw)

The selected specialist should not run this draft uncritically. They should confirm the current preferred Emtree headings, syntax and field tags for the available Embase platform, optimize sensitivity, translate it to Ovid if applicable, and return the final executed strategy exactly as run.

Ideal applicant

Remote applicants are welcome. The applicant should be a medical librarian or information specialist with legitimate access to Embase and previous experience designing and documenting systematic-review searches. Familiarity with Emtree, Embase.com or Ovid syntax, PRISMA-S and PRESS is strongly preferred. Please describe relevant systematic-review experience and confirm access to Embase. No full-time commitment or fixed meeting schedule is required; the work can be completed asynchronously. Estimated effort is approximately 3–5 hours. Credentials must never be shared.
