Research Group Recruitment: Neuro-Oncology Evidence Synthesis

This project aims to establish a research group focused on neuro-oncology and evidence synthesis, working alongside researchers and clinical experts in neurosurgery, oncology, neurology, neuroscience and related fields. The group will focus on developing systematic reviews with or without meta-analyses , scoping reviews, narrative reviews and other evidence syntheses addressing clinically relevant questions in neuro-oncology.

Selected participants will gain hands-on experience in the development of research protocols, literature searches, critical appraisal, risk of bias assessment, data extraction, evidence synthesis, and scientific manuscript writing, with the opportunity to contribute to research projects intended for publication in indexed peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned research tasks accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Participate actively in the development of systematic reviews and other evidence-synthesis projects.
  • Attend scheduled training sessions in research methodology, literature searching, evidence synthesis, and biostatistics.
  • Conduct literature searches and screening of scientific studies according to established protocols.
  • Perform data extraction and contribute to the organization and interpretation of research data.
  • Participate in risk of bias assessment and methodological appraisal of included studies.
  • Contribute to protocol development, manuscript preparation, revisions, and other research activities as assigned.
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation of assigned research activities.
  • Communicate consistently with the research team regarding progress, difficulties, and completed tasks.

Ideal applicant

Applicants should have an intermediate to advanced level of English and a genuine interest in neuro-oncology, evidence-based medicine, and clinical research. Previous experience with systematic reviews, literature searches, research methodology, or scientific writing is desirable but not mandatory. Familiarity with platforms and tools such as Rayyan, Covidence, Sysrev, PubMed, Embase, or other bibliographic databases is considered an advantage. Experience with risk of bias assessment tools, PRISMA guidelines, protocol development, data extraction, or meta-analysis would also be helpful, but training will be provided. The ideal applicant should demonstrate commitment, responsibility, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively within a research team
